Felling station footbridge.

Story added: Monday 08 October 2007
Image: Felling Bridge.

Nexus and Network Rail spent £1.6 million on a new footbridge to the Metro station, including ramped access from the north side of the station (Mulberry Street) for the first time. The new bridge opened in April 2008, replacing a  previous bridge, which was 113 years old and siuffering decay to ironwork.

Listed elements of the original 1839 Felling station have been retained.

Alternatively, the Go North East bus services run every 15 minutes on Sunderland Road, using easy-access buses and connecting Heworth and Gateshead Interchange. Metro tickets are NOT valid on these services.
