 Nexus committed £266,000 to a multi-million pound programme of improvements, including much improved passenger waiting areas and information systems.
The Galleries is a high quality shopping centre at which around one third of customers arrive by bus, with 150,000 passenger journeys a week and 1,100 buses per day. The fully enclosed, contemporary bus station has six stands and includes lifts and escalators enabling easy access to the shopping centre. The new bus station is also fitted with automatic doors providing improved passenger safety, new toilet for disabled people, a comfortable waiting area and electronic bus service information. It is at the heart of Nexus' long-term plans to improve transport provision in Washington.
