Responding to a recent consultation by the North East Regional Assembly, the PTA has expressed its support for a directly-elected regional body, provided that its duties and responsibilities - and those of its five constituent district councils - relating to the preparation and implementation of the Local Transport Plan for Tyne and Wear are not eroded.
