NEW PTA MEMBERS ANNOUNCED.
The political make up of the Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Authority (PTA) has been ratified.  
The political make up of the Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Authority (PTA) has been ratified.
 
The group, made up from councillors from the five constituent districts of Tyne and Wear, will shape public transport policy and guide the work of Nexus, the Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Executive (PTE).
 
*Councillor David Wood from Newcastle City Council was elected Chairman, Councillor Joe Lawson of Sunderland City Council was elected Vice Chair.

Mike Parker, Director General of Nexus, said: “I am delighted to welcome Coun Wood as Chairman of the PTA. He has been a member of the PTA for several years and I look forward to working with him.”
 
Coun Wood’s top two priorities within the coming months will be a move to involve the people of Tyne and Wear in public transport consultation as well as an initiative to work with partners to create better integration of public transport.
 
At the meeting Coun Wood also agreed to meet privately with the signatories of a petition detailing concerns about bus services in Western Newcastle which was presented to the PTA.
