Director General Mike Parker told Members that Metro would be moving into a more than break-even position on its operating deficit by the end of this financial year. The target for achieving this was set in 1996/97. He commended the part played by Rob Smith, Director of Metro Operations, who had dealt ably with many difficult situations on the system since taking up his post.
