TransPennine Rail Franchise
The PTA has expressed its concern that the franchise might be awarded to Connex as their proposals don't include links from Sunderland to other key cities such as Manchester and Liverpool.

The PTA has expressed its concern that the franchise might be awarded to Connex as their proposals don't include links from Sunderland to other key cities such as Manchester and Liverpool. The Strategic Rail Authority is criticised for not insisting that Sunderland is part of the core TransPennine network.

The Public Inquiry into the PTA's application to increase tolls at the Tyne
Tunnel was held in Newcastle Civic Centre on Tuesday, 3rd April 2001.

It was conducted by Mr. F.D. Woodrow, MA(Cantab), DipTP, CEng, FRTPI, MICE, FIMgt, FRSA.
