The Authority operates on a statutory basis. It has representatives of all five district councils in Tyne and Wear and meets on the fourth Thursday in May, July, September, November, January and March at 10.00 am in Newcastle Civic Centre. The meeting is chaired by Councillor David Wood (Newcastle City Council). The Authority decides on its overall policies and sets its budget each year.
The Authority appoints a range of sub-committees and working groups. The papers for the Authority and sub-committee meetings are available five days beforehand.
The meeting agendas
The agendas lists the reports to be considered at each meeting. The minutes, summarising the matters discussed and the decisions taken at the previous meeting, are also included. Reports are produced by officers at Nexus and at Newcastle City Council.
