In addition to promoting the overall usage of public transport in Tyne and Wear the key services that the PTA oversees are:

•  The Metro;
•  Concessionary travel;
•  Socially necessary (secured) bus services and bus related infrastructure;
•  Newcastle / Sunderland heavy rail services;
•  Care services;
•  Tyne ferry services;
•  Travel information;
•  Tyne Tunnels;
•  New Tyne Crossing development.

With the exception of the Tyne Tunnels and New Tyne Crossing, all of the above services are promoted, provided and / or procured by Nexus on behalf of the PTA. Further information on some of the key services is given below. Information on the others can be found on the Nexus website.
